Why I Adopted A School?
I was told about the existence of Rotary Club of Faisalabad and with a desire to improve literacy and medical facilities in my hometown, I agreed to join it. Rotary is doing such meaningful work through its programs in health, hunger and service to humanity. Therefore, I was convinced that Rotary organization, where proper justice is done to the donations. One of the thrust areas of Rotary International as well as Rotary Club of Faisalabad is literacy. Since a network of Rotary clubs all over Faisalabad and Pakistan, education for all is possible and achievable. After joining rotary I became more aware of the tremendous activities done by Rotary Foundation.

I believe it is our responsibility to educate the children and provide opportunities in their life. It is only because of opportunities we have been blessed with that we are all here today. This form of opportunity should be made available to every child on this country and world.

So basing on these, I decided to adopt one Government owned but most neglected school i.e. Government Khursheed Stylish Girls Primary School, Batala Colony, Faisalabad, Pakistan. This school was being rum from without a proper school building and in 2007 an abandoned and depleted old building was given to them.

Following actions were done:

  • Three wash rooms were constructed with proper flush system and tiled flooring.
  • Overhead water tank and motor for supply of water were arranged.
  • Cool Drinking water through Electric Cooler was also arranged.
  • School runs six classes but posted cum authorised teachers were four only. Two teachers were hired and expenses to be paid by the sponsors.
  • One sweeper was hired to clean the wash rooms, class rooms, verandah and premises.
  • One part time gardener was hired and trees cum flowers were installed.
  • Every student is being encouraged to plant one tree in his/her name.
  • Major repairs were carried out to make the rooms usable.
  • All doors and windows needed repairs and were made usable.
  • Whole building and was white washed and it is repeated annually.
  • Exterior of the building was painted  to give it a presentable look.
  • All students are given summer and winter uniforms every year.
  • All students are provided note books on quarterly basis.
  • Regular tests are held and students are awarded with prizes and gifts.
  • Bench and desk has been provided to every student. Previously the were to sit on ground.
All the above actions incurred an expenditure of rupees 2,200,000/= so far and have made it a model school now. The school strength has increase from 125 students to over 300 students with 98% attendance.
